Hashtag Generator

Enter your topic and platform. You get a mixed set of broad, mid-size and niche tags rather than thirty tags that all compete in the same pool.

Two or three words beats one.

Optional. Local tags are the least competitive you can get.

Hashtags decide who sees it. Early engagement decides how far it goes.

A post that lands in a hashtag pool with no engagement drops out of it within minutes. Our packages give a post enough early signal to hold its place.

Most hashtag tools hand you thirty of the biggest tags in your topic. That is the one approach guaranteed not to work, because the biggest tags are where every large account is already posting, and a small account has no chance of surfacing in them. A post tagged only with millions-of-posts hashtags is competing for a slot it cannot win.

This generator builds a pyramid instead. A small number of broad tags for reach, a larger block of mid-size tags where you have a genuine chance of ranking, and a block of specific, low-competition tags where your post can actually sit at the top for a while. It also adjusts the count per platform, since Instagram, TikTok and YouTube reward very different hashtag behaviour.

How to use the Hashtag Generator

  1. Type your topic, niche or the subject of the post. Two or three words works better than one.
  2. Pick the platform. The tag count and mix change with it.
  3. Optionally add your city or country to pull in local tags, which are usually the easiest to rank in.
  4. Press Generate, then copy the set. Paste it into your caption or first comment.

The pyramid, and why it beats a flat list

Hashtags are ranked pools. Each one has a top-posts section that a limited number of posts occupy, and the more posts compete for a tag, the more engagement you need to hold that slot. A balanced set gives you a realistic shot at several pools at once instead of no shot at one.

  • Broad tags (millions of posts). Two or three at most. You will not rank, but they signal topic to the algorithm and cost nothing.
  • Mid tags (roughly 50,000 to 500,000 posts). The workhorses. Big enough to carry traffic, small enough that a decent post can hold the top section for hours.
  • Niche tags (under 50,000 posts). Where a small account actually wins. Low volume each, but you can sit at the top for days and the audience is exactly right.
  • Local tags. The single most underrated group for any business with a location. Competition is tiny and intent is high.

How many hashtags per platform

  • Instagram: three to five well-chosen tags now outperform a wall of thirty. Instagram has said publicly that hashtags are a minor discovery signal compared with the content itself. Use them to categorise, not to spam.
  • TikTok: three to six. TikTok reads your caption, your on-screen text and your audio far more heavily than your tags, so a few accurate tags plus a descriptive caption beats a tag dump.
  • YouTube: two or three in the description. Only the first three appear above the title, and stuffing more than fifteen makes YouTube ignore all of them.

Rules that stop a good set from backfiring

  • Never reuse an identical block on every post. Vary it, or you look automated.
  • Check any tag you have not used before. Banned and spam-flooded tags do exist and can suppress a post.
  • Keep them relevant. A tag that does not describe the post trains the algorithm to show it to the wrong audience, which hurts more than it helps.
  • Caption or first comment makes no measurable difference to reach. Put them wherever your captions read better.

Frequently asked questions

Do hashtags still work in 2026?

They work as a categorisation signal, not as a growth hack. Instagram itself has said they are a small factor next to content quality and early engagement. A relevant, well-sized set helps the platform understand and place your post. Thirty generic tags do nothing.

Where do these suggestions come from?

They are built from your topic using platform-specific patterns: recognised suffix and prefix conventions, community tag formats, and local variants when you supply a location. Nothing is invented from an unrelated topic.

Should I put hashtags in the caption or the first comment?

Reach is the same either way. Use the first comment if you want a cleaner caption, which is the only real difference.

Can hashtags get my post suppressed?

Yes, if you use a banned tag or one that has been flooded with policy-violating content. If a post suddenly gets no reach, removing the hashtags and checking each one is the first thing to try.

Is my topic sent to a server?

No. The set is generated in your browser from the words you type.
